Geraer Speedskater international dabei : Vorschau auf World Games, Junioreneuropameisterschaften und Europameisterschaften
Die Sommermonate sind bekanntlich die Zeit für die internationalen Speedskating-Meisterschaften. So wird es auch in diesem Jahr sein. Allerdings gibt es noch eine Besonderheit : Zwei der internationalen Großereignisse finden in Deutschland statt. Mit dabei bei allen internationalen Titelkämpfen sind auch unsere Sportler vom RSV Blau-Weiß Gera. Insgesamt 14 Geraer Sppedskater haben sich für die Internationalen Meisterschaften qualifizieren können, darunter sind sieben Sportler der Aktivenklasse und sieben Junioren.
World Games
Bei den World Games, den Weltspielen der nichtolympischen Sportarten, zählt Speedskating seit langem zum Programm. In diesem Jahr treffen sich die weltbesten Sportler in über 30 Sportarten in Duisburg. Vom 19. – 21. Juli werden auf der neu erbauten Bahn in Duisburg die Speedskating-Wettkämpfe stattfinden. Insgesamt 24 Damen und 24 Herren kämpfen dabei vom Sprint bis hin zu den langen Distanzen um den Sieg. Deutschland wird drei Damen und drei Herren an den Start schicken. Bei den Herren wurden ursprünglich nominiert : Matthias Schwierz ( Tuttlingen ), Nico Wieduwilt ( Gera ) und Daniel Zschätzsch ( Groß-Gerau ). Da sich unser Geraer Sportler Nico Wieduwilt beim Training auf der Duisburger Bahn leider das Kahnbein brach und somit für diesen Saisonhöhepunkt ausfällt, wird der Eisenacher Toni Deubner ihn ersetzen. Bei den Damen vertreten die deutschen Farben Jana Gegner ( Berlin ), Michaela Neuling ( Gera ) und Tina Strüver ( Halle ).

Europameisterschaften
Diese finden vom 1. August in der Skate – Arena von Jüterbog statt, die Straßenrennen werden auf einem Kartkurs bei Niedergörsdorf ausgetragen, der Marathon wird in Ludwigsfelde gestartet. Hier werden im deutschen Nationaltrikot an den Start gehen :
Herren : Toni Deubner ( Eisenach ), David Hensel ( Gera ), Robert Hirsch ( Groß-Gerau ), Martin Matyk ( Darmstadt ), Pascal Ramali ( Groß-Gerau ), Matthias Schwierz ( Tuttlingen ), Nico Wieduwilt ( Gera ) und Daniel Zschätzsch ( Groß-Gerau ).
Damen : Jana Gegner ( Berlin ), Dennise Keßler ( Gera ), Michaela Neuling ( Gera ), Tina Strüver ( Halle ) und Sandra Wieduwilt ( Gera ).
Zusätzlich wurden bei den Damen für den EM-Marathon nominiert : Jenny Berndt ( Freiburg ), Annette Frick ( Ötlingen ), Fredericke Gehring ( Leverkusen ), Michaela Heinz-Gerten ( Nürnberg ), Franziska Neuling ( Gera ), Sabrina Rossow ( Oberkochen ), Nina Spilger ( Groß-Gerau ).
Bei den Herren werden zusätzlich noch Christian Domscheit ( Gettorf ) und Clemens Rubick ( Gera ) den Marathon im deutschen Nationaltrikot bestreiten. Sollte Nico Wieduwilt aufgrund seiner Verletzung noch ausfallen, wird Markus Pape ( Ravensberg ) für den Marathon noch nachnominiert werden.

Junioreneuropameisterschaften
Diese finden in diesem Jahr vom 21. Juli bis zum 28. Juli in Cardano al Campo, einem Ort ca. 30 km nördlich von Mailand gelegen, statt. Insgesamt 27 junge deutsche Sportler werden dabei im Nationaltrikot bei den insgesamt 44 Entscheidungen vertreten sein
Im deutschen Aufgebot befinden sich :
Junioren A – Herren : Denis Dressel ( Gera ), Boris Hahn ( Groß-Gerau ), Rico Keppeler ( Großbettlingen ), Etienne Ramali ( Groß-Gerau ), Sebastian Richter ( Arnstadt ), Michael Rühling ( Gera ), Yannick Schimek ( Groß-Gerau ).
